TRIUMPH STAG

It is difficult to believe that some thirty
years have elapsed since the last Stag rolled off the production
line. Certainly the model has transcended the decades well
and the styling still looks good today. Seen as a competitor
to the SL Series Mercedes during the 1970s, the Stag offered high
performance motoring for four, in effortless comfort.
Offered here is a 1974 example finished in
black. It has been in the vendor’s care for the past nine
years and prior to that would seem to have seen only occasional
use. The subject of a Rover V8 engine conversion, the power
unit has been rebuilt with new 3.9 heads, Offenhauser manifold with
Holley carburettor and stainless four-branch exhausts.
Additional work undertaken has included recent replacement of the
brake pads and shoes and new copper pipes, whilst the cooling
system has benefited from upgraded radiator and the fitment of a
Kenlowe fan. The car has been set up on a rolling road and is
understood to drive very well and a Cobra immobiliser has been
fitted.
The black mohair hood is a replacement item
and the car is offered for sale with a V5 document and an MOT
certificate current until January 2009.
